“Obstacles don’t have to stop you.
If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up.
Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it.”
As the oldest member of MeloDious, I have the wonderful responsibility of keeping morale up and trying to push everybody, including myself, to greatness. Music is my life. I can go days without t.v., but I cannot go a day without listening to, playing and enjoying music.
I’ve been playing piano since the age of 5 and singing for as long as I can remember. Having a background in classical music really helped me develop routine and discipline, and created the strong foundation I walk on today. However, studying and being immersed in jazz and growing up in church, singing and playing gospel music has enabled me to get in touch with a more vulnerable and free side of music. My personality has rarely allowed me to visit this type of creativity in the past (I’m a perfectionist, and mistakes TERRIFY me)!
I love collaborating with other musicians. At this point in my musical journey, I desire to grow and learn and soak up everything I can like a sponge. Playing with my siblings as a group is such a huge blessing, and I would love for us to take this as far as it can go. It is my hope for MeloDious to have a platform to inspire and influence the world, and to create timeless music that will last when I’m long gone.
My ultimate dream is to one day start my own record label. It excites me to the core to hear a bunch of tracks and different instruments mixed together to make one amazing song. I spend a great deal of my spare time listening to various artists and picking apart different sound effects in songs, from a cowbell that has some reverb on it, to what could maybe be hairspray coming out the bottle.
Producing music and providing opportunities for young, hungry artists while building an innovative label with a family vibe are my goals for the future. I know that nothing is impossible with God and hard work, and I plan to focus on my goal and not look anywhere but ahead.
